Dear Board 60 Varsity Boys Basketball Officials,
I hope you are all doing well and preparing for the basketball off season. A good many of you are probably well into your spring season officiating as well.
The reason for this note is to provide some feedback and provide a way to get feedback from all of you on how this past season went, your thoughts about being observed during the season, and how you felt about the sectional tournament in general.
From the committee standpoint, we felt the season went very well. We were able to observe every official at least 2 times during the regular season, either live or by video.
This gave us an opportunity to properly tier all officials for the tournament. We had a couple availability glitches this year but we worked through those. Overall, I would like to commend all officials for keeping us informed of your availability as soon as you had changes.
There were many college playoff assignments this year both on the men’s and women’s side. I view these as not only great opportunities for those assigned the college playoffs, but also opportunities for newer high school officials to receive assignments they may not have received. It’s a win/win situation.
There were no major issues regarding officials during games that the committee was made aware of, that’s always a good thing. There were also some great, competitive games played down the stretch during the semis, finals, play downs, and the western regionals.
Here is what we would like from all of you, in the next couple days while things may still be fresh, please email your feedback on how you think we did as a committee.
It’s always important to know what went right so we can continue doing those things correctly, but it’s more important to me to hear where we can make some improvements. Your thoughts are very important to the committee, so feel free to voice your opinion. (Varsity officials only, thanks.)
Only I will see the responses and will not share names of those who do respond. This is only so we can improve as a committee. My email is rtfrank25@gmail.com, so please take the time to offer us your honest feedback.
For those of you that have a specific beef with me personally and don’t wish to send it directly to me, please send it to Todd Kirkey and he will remove your name and send me the feedback.
Thanks to all, in advance, and have a great offseason.
Rich Frank
