Dear Board 60 Officials,

Three-person officiating continues to play an important role in Section V, and Board 60 remains committed to advocating for additional three-person assignments while providing training and review to ensure our officials are prepared to work these games with confidence, consistency, and proper mechanics.

To support that goal, we are launching several training initiatives this season, including preseason scrimmages. These opportunities will focus on positioning, rotations, and court coverage while providing officials with valuable instruction and feedback, on and off the court.

To make scrimmages as effective as possible, we are seeking officials with strong three-person EXPERIENCE who are AVAILABLE to help observe, train, and mentor fellow officials. These trainers/evaluators will assist with pre-season scrimmages and help our officials prepare for sectional assignments.

Volunteers must currently be varsity officials and possess both significant three-person EXPERIENCE and have the AVAILABILITY to assist throughout the season.

If you are interested in serving as a training volunteer, please contact Marlin Johnson (marlin24jnson@gmail.com) or Todd Clausen (toddjclausen@gmail.com) as soon as possible. The committee will then finalize the trainers roster shortly there after (not everyone can be a trainer). Posted scrimmages will be designated as three-person training assignments where trainers can sign up to participate.

Additional information regarding scrimmages, training videos, and in-season training and review opportunities will be shared in the coming weeks. These initiatives are designed to help ALL officials improve their performance on the court while promoting consistent application of proper three-person mechanics.

Whether your are selected as a trainer or not, we appreciate everyone’s commitment to high school boys basketball and to your continuous improvement as an official.

Sincerely,

Board 60 Three-Person Training Committee
